Boost Your Home's Spring Curb Appeal!

We all get into that slump of running into the house when it's raining, lighting a fire, closing the blinds and pretty much ignoring what is going on outside during those long, cold winter months.
Well it's time to perk up and open those curtains because the sun is shining and it's SPRING! I have made a list for you of ways you can boost your home's spring curb appeal (and backyard too!) with just a few easy steps.

We will be doing a lot of these at our house in the coming weeks, so watch for upcoming blog posts!

1. Add some color! Color (as in flowers) are a great way to freshen up the look of your yard after all that dreary rain. You can get flowers that are already blossoming for fairly cheap at your local nursery or, if you have a green thumb, plant them as seeds and watch them grow (not me!).
Here are my favorite examples:

A sprinkle of flowers between pave stones can make a colorful difference to the way your yard looks!
These adorable little purple flowers  look great in this yard.

Or just a row of fresh blooms along your fence line can do the trick!

I just love the look of a huge pot of flowers like the one below. Maybe at the end of your driveway, or next to the front door?

Or a window box! You can't go wrong.

2. A fresh coat of paint! Whether you paint your whole house or just the front door or your fence, a fresh coat or new color can make all the difference in the world! We are going to be painting our house in the next few weeks and I cannot wait for our house to get the face lift it deserves! I chose Olive Green for my front door, but you can choose whatever color you want and it's an easy project you can do yourself!

Here are some pretty Olive Green doors for inspiration:

3. Look around your yard for dead/dying trees and plants. Are there plants that you have been trying to save or bring back to life but just aren't making it? Does your lawn have dead spots? These are easy items you can fix with a trip to your local nursery that will make your yard and home look that much better. For example, we have a tree in the front yard that is constantly dropping leaves and branches onto our lawn, and it's roots are growing into the lawn and killing the lawn. So we are going to have the tree ripped out this week. In the backyard, a lot of the bushes that were planted when the house was built have gotten bigger and are growing into each other. It is time to go through and rip some of those bushes out so that the other plants have room to breathe and grow.

You want your yard to look maintained and spacious, not crowded and full of dead/dying plants.

4. Pressure - Wash your driveway and sidewalk. During the winter months, dirt and debris can build up on your driveway, causing unsightly black marks and other stains that can easily be washed away with a pressure washer. Take the time to rent a pressure washer from your local hardware store (or invest in one for future use) and use it to wash your driveway, sidewalk, garage floor, front and back patios, even your house!

5. Update your patio furniture and/or cushions! And take a look around your yard to de-clutter! A lot of people (me included!) have junk in the yard that they no longer need. This year, I am going to buy bright colored new patio cushions for our chairs, clean out the clutter that has built up on our back porch, and get a great new gas burning fire pit with some cute chairs!

I can't decide between this one from Target or this one that I found at Costco!
I also found these adorable sea foam green cushions at Target that I absolutely love:

And of course you can get all sorts of cute matching pillows too! Here is where you can find affordable & adorable outdoor pillows at Target!

There are all sorts of cute things you can find for the backyard, and front yard too! I was thinking of getting some cute pillows for my little set on the front patio too, since I can't decide between all these adorable pillows!

Stay tuned to later blog posts for how we will be "boosting" our curb appeal in the coming weeks!!
