Top 15 Family Owned Businesses in the El Dorado Hills Area

I have lived in the El Dorado County area for almost 30 years! I have seen businesses come and go. I was recently talking with someone who does not live in the area and we discussed all the great local businesses this county has to offer. If you don't feel like driving over the county line, or you just like to keep your tax dollars in county, take a look at this list of the top fifteen family owned businesses in the El Dorado Hills area (in alphabetical order).

Aji - located in El Dorado Hills Town Center Plaza, this Japanese fusion restaurant has a little bit of everything - street food, noodles, sushi and salads. Check out their website for happy hour and events.
El Dorado Saloon  - now in combination with their other restaurant, Sauced (pizza), located right next door! In addtion to a delicious dinner and lunch menu, they offer live music, happy hour, and brunch on weekends starting at 9am.

Face In A Book - Wonderful bookstore in Town Center. They carry books for all ages, and hold a ton of events!
Folsom Palace - 2 locations, Folsom and El Dorado Hills (Raley's plaza). We are so lucky they decided to open in EDH as this is one of the best Chinese food restaurants you can find!
Fortune Garden - Another delicious Chinese restaurant in El Dorado Hills. Very affordable family dining!
Heavenly Donuts - This divine coffee and donut shop has been in Cameron Park forever! They offer donuts of all shapes and sizes!
Milestone - Seasonal and delicious! Something for everyone here - happy hour, brunch, and fun weekly events!
Papa Gianni's - Another Cameron Park favorite. If you are looking for the absolute best Italian food in the area, this is it. Voted Best Italian Restaurant in El Dorado County!


Sellands - Fun atmosphere and a great menu with a little bit of everything! I take clients here a lot because they offer many gluten free options!
Sign Banner Print - They do soccer banners, real estate signage, flyers, you name it! The owners are absolutely wonderful to work with and they are super fast and knowledgeable.
Taqueria El Dorado - The absolute BEST authentic Mexican food around! Fast service and the food is to die for!


36 Handles - All the feels of an authentic London pub! Open for lunch, dinner and happy hour! Visit their website for trivia and live music dates!
Train Station Coffee Shop - Don't be fooled by the name! This place has been around for years and offers the best breakfast around! Open 6-2 Daily for breakfast and lunch!
Under The Arbor - The cutest antique & home decor shop in the area. Family owned and the best part is, along with selling adorable antiques, they offer products from other local vendors - such as honey, jam, and homemade decor.

Wally's Pizza Bar - Pizza, cocktails, happy hour, live music, and breakfast on weekends from 9am-2!They honor local heroes (teachers, nurses, firefighters, police officers, and military) on Wednesdays with a free personal pizza.


  • Special Mention in Folsom: Snooks Chocolate Factory - Located in Historic Folsom and started by John Snook in 1963, this delicious candy shop offers homemade candy and of course chocolate, ice cream, and seasonal goodies! A great place to take visitors from out of town!



If you feel like taking a little extra time and heading up to Placerville, here are my top 5 favorite family owned places to eat:

Jack Russell Brewery - Mead, ciders, and seasonal beers plus a delicious menu!
Sweetie Pies - Delicious bakery in Historic Placerville and offers breakfast and lunch!
The Independent - Owned by the same family that owns Heydey Cafe, this upscale restaurant in Historic Placerville is superb! Great service and GREAT food!
Lovebirds Coffee - Perfect little spot in Placerville for coffee and dessert!


Cascada - Also featuring a location in El Dorado Hills, this Mexican restaurant is not to be missed! Unique menu and great atomosphere!
