In December, we were lucky enough to get a great deal on a house in El Dorado Hills, very close to my office. My commute is no longer an hour! The best part about the house is that it has a pool! We love our new house but it needed a little updating. It was built in 1998, and the sellers didn't do a whole lot to it while they lived there.
We closed on the house right before Christmas.
Instead of moving in right away, we painted, installed all new flooring and baseboards, and new light fixtures.
Here are a few pictures of what the formal living and dining room looked like when we bought the house.
It took 5 weeks to complete all the projects we wanted to get done! We checked on the house every day.
Since we have about 100 progress pictures, I can't possibly post them all. Here is a picture of what this same room looks like after just ripping up the floor and painting. What a difference!
Here is a close up of the flooring we picked:
These are the "Lighthouse 3" color from the Old Carmel Collection at Prestige Flooring in Sacramento. They are beautiful! I just love the rustic look and the color variations.
The painter we used is Elite Painting Services. They are amazing! They came over initially and went over everything in detail that we needed done and then they painted the whole house and then came over to touch up the baseboards and trim. They are fast and efficient and the paint job looks beautiful!
Now take a look at the finished room:
Here is what the family room looked like when we bought the house:
Here is the "after" picture of the family room, without the baseboards:
We are in the process of replacing the outdated fireplace as well, as you can see by the gap in the flooring on the left side of the picture.
In the next few weeks the fireplace will look like this:
I can't wait to post pictures of the fireplace when it is done!
We are also doing the kitchen and bathrooms, so stay tuned for those remodel posts as well!
Now we are ready to move in!
Congratulations on your new home, it is beautiful. I like what you did with the interior, it looks much brighter and the rooms look larger with a lighter color paint. The stone fireplace with the heavy wood mantle is divine and I am certain you'll enjoy being able to sleep later, since your commute is significantly shorter.
ReplyDeleteSarah, you have really outdone yourself this time! The progress is unbelievable - the floor, the paint, how everything seems to blend together perfectly. This is certainly an investment that you can be proud of. My favorite transformation so far is the family room. The wooden floor gives the place a fresh, modern feel and the new fireplace looks great!
